Pastor-in-Residence
The Pastor in Residence program will bring ministers to the Seminary campus for study leaves stretching between a few days and two weeks in length. During that time these clergy will be involved, as their expertise and personal program design allows, in giving presentations in classes, preaching in chapel, leading forums for students, and interacting with the faculty through inclusion in and formal (lectureships and classes) and informal (meals and community events) occasions.
Bringing experienced and qualified pastors to the campus will enrich the Seminary’s programs and people by keeping in touch with those involved in the varied practices of ministry. Students and faculty will interact with ministers from around the country who represent a variety of specialties and ministry gifts. Occasionally, the program will bring to campus small groups (3 or 4) of pastors to be part of panel conversations about particular issues.
All those chosen to become Pastors in Residence will be assigned a faculty mentor who will work with them to plan their time of residence so that they will make the visit as effective as possible, both for the pastor and for the Seminary. Crucial to this effort is strategic selection of pastors to bring to campus, and planning far enough in advance to enable the faculty and administration to incorporate pastors into classes and co-curricular activities to take full advantage of the resources pastors can bring.
