Making Connections A Program of North Park Theological Seminary

Professor in Residence

Because of the Covenant’s rapid growth, there are many new congregations whose members know little about the Seminary.  Through church planting and adoption of congregations, many of them representing ethnic groups whose presence is growing rapidly within the Covenant, there is a need to make new connections, both to maintain crucial elements of the denomination’s identity and to ensure that the Seminary serves the whole Covenant effectively.

Over the past decade, there has also been expansion and diversification of the faculty. Five new faculty members are being added in 2006! We have a new Dean of Academic Life who started this fall, as well. Sending faculty members to the congregations will enable them to become better acquainted with the breadth of the denomination, and help them to become better known by pastors and members as well.

We want Seminary faculty members to visit congregations as listeners and observers, not simply as experts.  Our goal is to allow the congregations to speak to the Seminary in order to inform us of their ministries and how the Seminary might best serve them, both directly and through its training of future leaders.  Professors in Residence will meet with the pastoral staff, lay leaders, and other members of the congregation, and will review congregational documents in order to get to know its ministries and learn new ministries in the Covenant.
